REFLECT YOUR THEME... YOUR PERSONALITY...
YOUR DAY

By Cathy Griffin

YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOUR BRIDAL JEWELRY reflects the theme of your wedding. It should reflect your personality, for your special day. You will save a lot of time and effort if you already have an idea of the type of jewelry you want. Your bridal jewelry should compliment the type of wedding you are having. For instance, if you were going for a simple but very classy and elegant wedding, then you would want jewelry to match that theme.  If you were planning a wedding that is dressed to the hilt, and has lots of sparkle and glitter, then you would want jewelry to match that theme.

Your wedding party colors are also important, and they can be included in the bride’s jewelry or perhaps the bridesmaids and the flower girl jewelry.

When shopping for your jewelry, be sure you are working with a store and sales staff that ask you what type of wedding do you want to have. The staff should be caring enough, but professional enough to work with you until they have the same vision for your jewelry that you have. They should establish this before they even start showing you pieces. They may show you pieces of jewelry in an effort to try and get a better idea of what your tastes are and what your vision is for your wedding day.

SHOPING TIP:

When you go shopping for your bridal party jewelry, bring a swatch of the colors of your bridal party dresses, and a picture of your dress. A swatch of your dress is even better, and you should bring it with the picture. That way you can be sure to match.

Then you must be realistic about budget. At least have a range of prices in your mind that you want to stay within. If price is not a concern, then that makes your job and the sales staff’s job just that much easier. If price is a concern, then be sure to relate that to the sales staff when you are starting your search. They will be able to point you in the right direction.

Be sure you have an idea of what you want to spend on yourself as the bride, and then on what you want to spend on your bridesmaids. For instance, you may want white gold and pearls for your bridal necklace. It will be something special that you can wear again and again, and that you can keep always as a memento of your special day. If it is heirloom quality, then it is something that you can pass on to your daughter one day!

You may want matching colors for your bridesmaids. You can get these made to order with cultured pearls, Austrian crystals and fine sterling. These are available in a variety of price ranges, so you will be able to fit your wedding into your budget! Keep in mind that white gold will be pricier than fine sterling, simply because it is a more expensive precious metal.

Fine sterling is also a precious metal, and it will allow you to get high quality jewelry, more options of handmade jewelry, and at a fraction of the price of gold.
